Campaign to save Echuca Pigs

Thank you for helping to rescue and re-home a mother pig and her six children, who were otherwise destined for slaughter.

They had been seized by the Echuca council in northern Victoria due to extreme cruelty and mistreatment, and had reached the end of the mandatory 27 day holding period at the local sale yard. Activists have worked tirelessly with the council, vets and potential carers to find new loving homes.

Your donations will contribute to a significant council payment, vet bills (including de-sexing) and other costs involved in the rescue.

For more details, please check out the "Saving Seven" Facebook page.

Here's an update:

"
After a highly stressful day mama Scarlett and babies Annie, Lucy, Willa, Bessie, Peggy and Arnold are finally safe and resting. The minute they walked themselves off the float the change in their eyes and demeanour was remarkable. After a month of uncertainty and a lifetime of hardship they truly know and understand they are safe."

If you would like to donate, you can pay with Paypal or credit card. There is also a selection of prints to purchase if you would like a permanent memory.

Thank you for your generosity and compassion.

This is what the pigs were saved from, a saleyard with a trip to the slaughterhouse looming:

This is them now, enjoying life the way it should be:
